| --Standard Overheight Frames |
|
If you require an over height custom made door without delay, Superior Doors can offer doors that may be cut down by the prehanger, builder or handyman.
This now means that you can be given the same prompt service on over height doors as is offered with standard sized doors. You will always have these doors in stock
The doors are manufactured with a High Moisture Resistant (HMR) particle board block in the top and bottom giving you and your staff the opportunity to cut down to any size between 2400 and 1980mm.
It is important to note that when cutting these doors down that there is an equal amount cut from both ends for sake of centralizing the lock block. |

| --Steel Reinforced Frame |
|
Although Superior Doors are of the highest quality we have raised the bar of benefits by making the Superior Door even more superior with the introduction of doors containing steel inserts.
These doors have the usual 30mm thick timber frame with polystyrene core and are manufactured to withstand harsh environmental conditions or where the prevailing conditions dictate that a stronger and more robust door is needed.
Steel insert doors are particularly suitable for use in areas where the ambient temperatures or conditions vary on each side of the door.
Most interior doors are made using natural timber frames such as pine and in many instances timber tends to move in sync with the local environment.
Classic examples would be where doors are used in an ensuite bathroom where there will be moist conditions on one side and dry conditions on the other side or another example could be the doors between the garage and the house where one face of the door is in a cooler area than the other face which is in a warmer area. Each side of the door sustains different environmental conditions.
Doors within cavity sliding systems need special care.
When preparing to install the lock the builder or owner often cuts away a decent chunk of the vertical door stile thus removing some of its structural integrity. Many cavity slider doors are in vulnerable positions such as laundry/wash areas, ensuites and places where the ambient temperature and actual conditions are different on each side of the doors. These doors are often only supported by the upper door track and are not secured by the usual three hinges found on standard prehung doors.
To preserve the integrity of Superior’s doors a steel box section measuring 30 x 30mm runs inside the length of the door between the top and bottom rails and is set back 163mm from the edge which will allow drilling for door hardware.
The steel is available on one side or two sides dependent on the door size and where the doors are situated.
There is strong demand for oversize doors and it is recommended that steel inserts be included in all hollow core doors over 1980mm high and over 910mm wide.
The steel inserts can be fitted to doors with skins of 4mm (38mm o/a thickness) or 4.75mm skins (39.5mm o/a thickness) and 6mm (42mm o/a thickness) |
